I've always liked to draw - especially cars. In 1971 my father had his Harley pinstriped by a local striper, Don Penttila. I was hooked. An article by Dean Jeffries in a magazine in the high school library caught my attention and fanned the flame. I tore it out and took it home to study. After high school I worked as a machinist for 11 years, pinstriping on the side. Then I made the "Big Decision" to pinstripe full time and have never regretted it. Though truck lettering and signs are a large part of our business - my wife, Sue, works along side me - pinstriping is my passion. It's a dieing art so we need to get more people interested in trying it. When I started out I had no one to show me. Now with panel jams, pinstripers' get-togethers and sites like these on the internet, there's always someone somewhere to lend a helping hand! |
