BILL WILLIAMS
Hey!.. How's it goin'! I'm Bill Williams, of Spanaway, Washington, and I welcome you to my page in the Pinhead Lounge. I've been doing custom paint and pinstriping for a few years now, well... since about 1978 I guess... That's when it all got started. I was working at Lakes Body Shop, in Lakewood, WA., as a parts-runner/clean-up kid..lol.. anyway, while I was working there, I came to know a guy that many of you may know.. his name is Bob Davidson. Bob would be at the shop after hours doing striping and lettering on vehicles now and then. I would spend time watching Bob do his thing on these vehicles and eventually it set its hooks in me. The next thing I knew I was pulling out beat-up fenders, hoods, doors... whatever I could find from out of the scrap metal pile. The "Bug" had bitten me. I spent many a night, or weekends at the shop just playin' around, laying out flames, pulling lines (or attempting to) and playing with an old worn-out airbrush. Bob has been a major part in the development of my artistic side and Bob... if you're reading this... I wish to pass on a very huge "THANK YOU!"
As you can see throughout my photos, flames are basically my forte'. Throughout the years they have taken on different shapes and styles.. I have been told by many that I have my own style and that I have a talent for following the lines and style of the particular project that I happen to be doing. My flame used to be somewhat shorter and fatter. I was working with a friend, Joe Brown, who made the suggestion that I try to make them a little longer and "flowing".. so I gave it a try and it definitely made a difference.. I have done so many flame-jobs since changing to this style. (Thanks to you to Joe).
I do all my striping around my work, and believe me, I can still use a bit of improvement on my striping art! I attend a lot of the "Brush Bash"s in the area, and enjoy the times spent with all the guys and gals at these events. I have to say, they are some of the nicest people, always willing to give helpful advise, assistance, tips, etc.
Well, that's about it for now.. hope you enjoy the site.
Thanks for taking time to check things out!
Bill!
