Sign Supplies,,,,McLogans in Los Angeles or Coast Air Brush in Anaheim, CA. For lettering quills, try Loco, French Masters or Scraff's. For air brush supplies, Coast Air Brush. For pinstrpin' brushes, try Excaliber's, Kafta's or Mackie's. For talent,,you can't buy it anywhere. It's a free gift from God.

Awesome guys. This is exactly the feedback I was looking for. After carefull review of the suggested brushed Im going to start out with a set of Mack Quills #169 and #189 and go from there. I appreciate everyones opinion and hope someday to be as good as all of you.

This is a personal choice question, kinda like what beer do you recommend. That said, I prefer Luco 3266 quills. Best brush I've ever used was a Haydn flat from Australia. Get to a meet where you can try other peoples brushes. You'll find really quickly which ones you like. That, or buy one of each in the same size til you figure it out.

Call Tom or Rodney at Rodney's Sign 919-567-2055 Holly Springs, NC. Great guys, great sign shop. They sell 1-Shot, Mack and Scharff. I like 189L and 179L and the Quinn/Mack. Jack L got me using Hannukaine's and 169's for small lettering. I guess I'm a brush-aholic ... going to counseling now!

David, Chris and Mike Fast at Mack are great guys and can help you with almost everything you need to get set up. The only thing I can say is the smaller bushes I would go to the synthetic blends.. They work better for me!!!

Hey David, As far as lettering quills go there are two types: brown squirrel hair that is softer and flops around like the mack 10 striping brush. And the gray squirrel hair that is stiffer and has more "snap" to it. I use the Mack 189L grays (the L is for Lacquered handles instead of bare wood) I like the Bobbo and the Mack wizard typhoon for scrolling. It really comes down to preference, I like the stiffer brushes (who doesn't haha) which are gray no-matter what brand.....Paint on Brothers!!!

Hey Chris, I'd like to make it out one of these years to your jam. I wish flying in Canada was as cheap as in the states... I too would like to hear what the pros like to use, maybe we'll hear from J-Bone. I hear he has a few brushes lying around, hahaha ;)

Hey Chris, nice props for Dustin, he's a cool standup guy. You really need to come home for the Percy Boom and meet him too! David, I got nothing for you, I'd like to hear the same answers from the experienced! I have one German brush that Pierre Tardif gave me but no name on it so I cannot tell you what it is, he had 1200 of them or something crazy like that....

That's a loaded question, haha. I have Mack, Langnickle, Kafka, Scharff as well as some random ones I picked up at art stores locally. I like them all for different things, you can never have enough brushes IMHO. Since I'm in Canada I try and order through Canadian sign suppliers for anything I can't get locally from one or two shops that carry striping and lettering gear. I've been dealing with Dustin Liebau at Bellevegas since last year, he has a profile on here as well. Good guy and he has always got me what I wanted quick, I'm sure it won't be too hard to find some sign supply shops in the US either. Try, "Quill Hair & Ferrule" or "Letterhead sign supply"
